All about Summerfest
What is Summerfest?
Summerfest is an annual children's and youth holiday program run eachyear during the first week of January at Erina High School. Now in it's 11th year , Summerfest, which is a ministry of the Central Coast Evangelical Church has proven to be a huge attraction with children and parents alike. Each year Summerfest caters for parents by running the now famous "Getaway Cafe", an oasis in the desert for parents during the hot days of summer.
While the kids enjoy activities like craft, painting, games, water skiing, water bombing and some challenging input from the bible, parents relax with a coffee and some cake in the cool of the Getaway Cafe. There they can find something stimulating for themselves, with a range of short talks on family-related issues and plenty of time out for a chat while the kids enjoy the morning.
Summerfest culminates on Saturday night with the fantastic and free "Summerfest Carnival Night". The food is good and unbelievably cheap and the giant slides, jumping castles and other activities are free!
You shouldn't think that Summerfest is just for little kids though. There are two sections for people with attitude. Xtreme Teenz caters for people going into years 7-9 while Eleven-50 hang out at the Erina Fair Youth Centre from 7-10 every week night.
Summerfest starts on Monday January 7th and goes to Friday January 11th. The program (for all those who are not Eleven-50) begins at 9 am each morning but come earlier to register. The cost is only $10 per day for the whole family or $40 for the week. That's almost too good to believe.
